Fright Night Overthinker
8 years old, sitting at the edge of my bed and terrified by the screaming…
Money and debt put a wedge between my parents. Causing catastrophic scream fests.
While listening to the mayhem, I turned into an OVERTHINKER. My entire body stiffened up, clenched my fists, and did my best to block the noise.
Swarms of thoughts stinging me with questions…
“Did you do something wrong? Do you see what you did? You caused them to be in debt. You’ve messed up again.”
OMG… possessed by phantom thoughts.
Many years later I did some earthwork to my soul. Back to the boneyard and remove the dirty lies!
And it started when I read a line from marketing legend Dan Kennedy, and it goes like this…
“Money doesn’t care about feelings or emotions. It goes to pastors and pornographers…”
I’m glad I had this breakdown…
…and to have a breakthrough!
My parents had little financial education. When they get overwhelmed with debt, pain screams out.
I’m glad I had the experience at 8 years old. It shaped me to reframe thoughts and stop overthinking.
If you find yourself frozen and overthinking, get up and MOVE.
Don’t do like I did and stay frozen at the edge of the bed!
Walk around your house. Take a hot or cold shower. Move furniture. Draw. Dance.
Get into your body to change the focus.
Don’t own all the thoughts that come to you.
Greet thoughts with a wave and let them pass.
Get back in the seat and direct the best mental movies for you life.
