Moment of Popcorn
Every great story involves popcorn.
Quick story.
When I was 7 years old, my 2nd-grade teacher Mr. Martin created a first-ever sleepover in the classroom. With the approval of the school principal and parents, the class had the entire school for the night!
We played on the monkey bars far more than we had during regular school hours. Mr. Martin bought pizza for supper. And we set up the entire school for hide and seek.
But we had to bring our own sleeping bag, pillow, and a flashlight. The night never ended for a kid full of candy and pizza energy!
Therefore, the night was wonderful!
(yea… I just said wonderful.)
Anyway, at about midnight, Mr. Martin comes up with a big idea to roll in the projector for movies and handed everyone a bucket of popcorn.
Even the parents were invited to stay the night. Few did.
What a great way to end the night.
My parents weren’t with me, but that was okay!
I was having fun.
I was learning about letting go.
I was recognizing that life needs a popcorn party whenever possible.
Why?
I didn’t know it at the time, but Mr. Martin passed away a few years later to cancer.
He didn’t know it.
I didn’t know it.
And you won’t know it either!
I’m not talking about cancer. I’m talking about the future.
Can you prove to me everything that will happen tomorrow?
No.
So why the heck are you worried about “what if” or “I’m not …”
It’s BS!
Pull out the popcorn and watch a movie.
Go to a concert.
Watch a show.
Go to a bar with a trusted friend.
Live your life and document the scenes just like I did with Mr. Martin.
It’s a story worth telling. And you are full of stories.
Go get’em!
