Show Me Your Crusty Co-Workers, I’ll Show You The Crumbling Future.
I used to hang around a bunch of negative chatters.
They laughed when I started to scratch at “quit my job” questions.
Questions like, “What if I tried a new career? What books help me grow up? What if I spend my vacation time and money on marketing/copywriting events?”
Your peers won’t accept BIG questions and challenge breaking a pattern.
So I started getting serious about changing places to hang out.
And it wasn’t easy.
I had a few laughs at my face. They said, “You can’t do that, and you’re not educated enough. And if you try, you’ll come back.”
Jeez… Maybe they are right. I’m not smart enough.
But that wasn’t the real problem.
The real problem was obeying other people’s thoughts over my own.
After shifting my attention to new groups of thinkers, my goals started to stick. SECRET: My input equals my output.
Every word, symbol, song, book, story, and podcast is potential programming if I stick with it.
If I hang around a group that eats McDonald’s and chugs beer every weekend, I’ll end up following the patterns no matter how destructive the habit.
Question the sh*t in your environment!
Be bold and find out why you’re in denial!
From my experiences, my denial became Goliath because I didn’t want to disrupt my friend’s and family thinking patterns.
I was secretly scared to rub people the wrong way.
Now that I’m thinking about it… I’m breaking out into rashes.
It’s no way to live.
Time to flip the switch!
